Programs
With a sisterhood of more than 200,000 college educated women across the country, Delta Sigma Theta continues to positively impact communities. Delta promotes human welfare using the three principles of scholarship, public service, and sisterhood. These principles are exemplified through the many programs of our sorority. Within any collegiate or alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated are sorors developing programs which caters to the needs of their community. These public service programs are centered on Delta’s Five Point Thrust:
Economic Development
Financial Fortitude is an initiative that helps the Sorority to educate our local community of the importance of building financial security and helping them to understand the basic principles of earning, spending, saving and investing.
Educational Development
Huntsville (TX) Alumnae supports Delta’s belief in upholding the importance of education and cultivating the youth of today to be leaders of tomorrow.
Physical and Mental Health
As an organization of predominantly African American women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is uniquely positioned to impact not only the well-being of its membership, but also the families and communities we serve.
Political Awareness and Involvement
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., has been a political force since its inception beginning with the Founders participation in the Women’s Suffrage March of 1913. Today we continue the fight to inform our communities of the Power of their voice through Voter registration, voter education, candidate forums, and seminars.
International Awareness and Involvement
Under the leadership and guidance of Grand Chapter, the chapter is committed to raising the level of awareness of the needs of the global community and addressing global issues through programs that provide assistance, monetary donations and supplies to help those in need in third world countries.
